I have been with Vodacom for many years. Last year I did not have a stable income and was living hand to mouth. Vodacom contacted me before they cut the line to inform me that I was in arrears and that the line will be cut. All good so far. I knew I was not able to pay and I knew Vodacom's point of view is that you must sell your soul to the devil to pay the account if you are not working. This year I contacted the firm that collects arrear amounts and said I would like to pay my account. All good so far. I have just one problem: Even if I pay the account amount up at R500 per month my number will not be activated. Lets rewind to what you get with a "contract" a phone and airtime. Now my original contract amount a month was R500.00 that includes the phone and a call bundle. I have the phone. I will pay for the phone. I have on airtime. I will be paying my contract fee of R500 a month with no airtime. My message to anyone who reads this, stay away from contracts, if you default you will experience the true greed and capitalistic view of Vodacom, you will be discarded as a client. Now I will be paying off the contract and they make huge profit because I don't get my airtime.
