After receiving my April statement for my 99c Straight Up contract (which includes a 500MB data bundle) I saw that my data is being billed at 85c/MB (ex VAT) and not the 15c/MB as the sales person promised me. I was told that the out-of-bundle rate is the same as in-bundle rate at 15c/MB. I lodged a query, during which the agent told me it seems incorrect and escalated the issue. The reference number for the query is included.
I since discovered with a bit of Googling that CellC pulled a sneaky move. It turns out that I must ANY bolt-on smartData bundle, even the R7.50 / 50MB bundle is OK, to qualify for the 15c/MB out-of-bundle rate. The included 500MB "data bundle" that comes with my contract is not really a bundle, and has an out of bundle tariff of R1/MB.
I'm disappointed, because
- this was not explained to me
- the CellC terms and conditions makes NO mention of this.
- the CellC press release [URL Removed] mentions that the tariff applies " across its entire mobile data product portfolio." which is FALSE.
Please fix this.
