VODACOM WANTS MONTH NOTICE

My contract was supposed to expire the 5th May 2013 as the 2 years contract I have signed lapses.
Acording to my knowledge the CPA says that service providers cannot automatically renew your contract on a month to month basis without your conscent.

So why is Vodacom still billing us when contracts that has been signed for a term of 24months expires?
Yet they most probably will keep to that 24month contract period like it suits them, when it might come to changing policies eg the BIS for instance which was unlimited on the old paperwork, and now want it to change to about 250mb per month.
If this is the case and they wanted to be so blaze about the whole thing we all that is on the old contracts should just go on forever never requesting a cancellation, therefore having to get the BIS etc included forever.
Even though I do not agree with the policy of giving notice about not wanting to continue with the contract, I did however notify the Vodacom shop at Game, and when I took out my other contract I was told that my contract on the existing phone would end at the end of APRIL.
Now I get told by customer care I had to cancel with them, therefore I will pay another month!
