I upgraded my blackberry for iphone 5 on 14.04.2013 at MTN in morningside on summit road. A consultant named mohau glady assisted in choosing the handset i prefered. I try not to use my mtn mobile that much as I have a corporate mobile and a landline as a result my bill never exceeds R600.00 per month. I told the consultant that much as I was upgrading, I did not want an additional costs and wanted to maintain the R600.00 monthly expense. On monday 22.04 (9 days later) i received an sms that I had exceeded a credit limit of R1, 700. this did not make any sense to me so I visited mtn and the same guy attended to me. At this time the amount owing was in excess of R2000.00. He tried to explain that there are unbilled items and that they can not provide me with my statement until the statement closing date. He assured me that there were some discounts that were not yet deducted and that when the statement closes the actual due amount will go back to R600. i was not convinced, i called the call center and was told that when using an iphone if I dont log off after using certain apps, it runs in above financial situation.cant cancel my contract as they demand R12k but cant give breakdown.
