Rip off of activation fees

I am extremely disappointed in the partnership between Vitality and Virgin Active gyms, and policies thereof, in my situation. I paid R975 to re-activate my Vitality membership with Virgin.
A few days later, I discovered that I was pregnant. I have been advised not to partake in gym activity until I am safely past my first trimester. Vitality has refused to "postpone" my membership at the Virgin gym. I cannot be expected to drive in to Stellenbosch a few times a week simply to swipe my card in order to maintain Vitality's admission required visits. Management at Virgin Active (Manager Samantha) offered to swipe my card for me, even though I did advise her that it is actually a action. Stellenbosch branch offers no classes for pregnant women, and Virgin advised me that instructors would feel uncomfortable having a pregnant woman in the classes. I called Virgin Active's head office, who explained that Vitality never "postpones" any contracts, and that that would just be "my tough luck"
I pursued the avenue of cancelling my membership, and I have now lost my R975 activation fee, and have not even visited the gym once. I feel this is unfair and a rip off!
