In June 2012 i showed interest in joining planet fitness, their consultants then hounded me to join calling me so often I signed up without reading the contract thoroughly enough, I then handed in the contract not once was I made aware by a staff memeber that i was to notify discovery of joining the gym or my account would fall into a normal account which i should pay monthly of R370 a month, I paid for my key (which I was not given). I went repeatedly to the gym to see if my key was ready and to no avail, I eventually was annoyed by the level of service and customer care and went in to cancel the contract, I was given forms to comlete (cancellation documents) given my R25 for the key back in cash. As far as I was aware I had cancelled the contract and was not once notified of anything otherwise, in December 2012 a debit order came off my account, I stopped it and investigated, planet fitness has responded today 04.03.2013 after yet another call on my side and said I owe them R370 for 12months, i think this is disgusting, my name will be blacklisted at the age of 22 for joining a gym, when they were at fault for not explaining and are in breach of so many points in the consumer protection act.
