I joined Planet Fitness in 2010 February 22 at their now closed branch in Fairmount. I paid joining fee as well as fee for the card (disc) which gives me access to the gym at national level. I was told by the sales person that I would be contacted as soon as the disc was ready, otherwise I can just keep checking in the next seven days or so. After two or three visits there was no disc and even after three months there was no disc, eventually I gave up on going to the gym and did not attend at all. All just went dead and quiet and I continued with my life. Around Sept. 2011, Saya Recoveries, a debt collector called to say I owed about R7000 to Planet fitness, after lengthy discussion explaining my story, I agreed to settle for R1000 and I paid the money into an FNB account given to me by SAYA. I was informed that I could now go back to the Gym. Still nothing worked, a year later, 2012 Saya came back and this time the bill was about R15000 and they wanted me to cancel the contract. I informed them that the contract was invalidated by Planet Fitness as they never gave me a disc, so I have nothing to cancel I never had a valid contract with Planet Fitness. I only applied and paid.
