My wife requested Maureen at Planet Fitness Bedfordview for a 6 month contract at Bedfordview on 5 May 2011 and her last gym visit, according to their records, was November 2011. On 10 October 2013 (!!), this "reputable" fitness company deducted R250 from my wife's ABSA account! Upon phoning Planet Fitness, it seems that my wife was signed on for a 36 month contract by Maureen! The initial fee was R59 per month and ramped up to R375, 6 months lather and R413 a year later. My wife now owes Planet Fitness in excess of R9000! A phone call to the debt collection company SAYA Recoveries revealed that Planet Fitness deducted R250 from my wife's account without consent. A phone call to the accounts department at Bedfordview resulted in an accounts department clerk complaining about her own "senior" accounts manager not adhearing to complaints of this nature. SAYA Recoveries claim that my wife could not be reached at her cell phone to settle the situation, yet I have been in constant communication with my wife at the same cell number since November 2011 to date. The Consumer Act, requires a person to be contacted. This was not honoured. Avoid this company by all means!!
