CANCELLATION OF MEMBERSHIP

I am very disgruntled by the situtation I've been put in by the Amanzimtoti club. I initially cancelled my member in November last year after being with the club for a year, it was done via the call centre which was all well and good until I got a phone call from a consultant at the Toti club advising not to cancel my membership and he would rather freeze it for me, I was told to come in to the gym and sign a form when I went in I was not able to see the consultant and the lady at reception gave me a form to sign which I did. It was a very rushed process and I was not given a proper explanation as to what freezing the membership meant and now I get call from an Attorney advising I've been handed over by Virgin Active for membership fees

I would think that common courtesy should have been a call from the club to advise that my membership would be reactivated. Now Im owing a R1000 and I have not used the facility since last year. On speaking to the club manager advised that she cannot assist me as I should have read the form and its my word against her consultant.
