Virgin active membership cancellation trouble

Hello my name is Fernell Jansen and I signed a contract at virgin active boksburg at k90 shopping complex. I made it clear that I wanted to subscribe for the month of June only after hearing that I could do this from one of their members who is a family friend and the consultant helping me said that I could do it. i was at home in boksburg for the school holidays and needed to keep fit whilst I was home. I am a student studying in Pretoria where I live at the residence so I am hardly at home in Reiger Park Boksburg I also told the consultant that and he told me that its fine. On the 27 of August I received a call from the finance department of the gym where I was told that I owe them R700 plus for the two months of subscription. I was really surprised being told since I am only a student I then told the lady that I would come to the gym personally and see if I can pay the account the lady then told me that if I cancel the contract I will need to pay R7000 plus because my contract was binding until the year 2015. I really don't know what to do right now because I was not informed about additional costs, cancellation fees and so forth. email [Email Removed]
