Double debited Initial fee

I signed up for a gym contract with Virgin active and agreed to pay a certain fee as an initial fee, they took my card n swiped it for that amount to which i recieved payment confirmation via sms but the slip printed as declined, then they debited my account again the next day without authorisation from me.

now i have the issue of having to fill out forms and prove that my money has been taken in order to get the initial amount reversed.
