I was a casual at beginning Feb 2013. I signed my contract and Lynne, the Manager informed me that I was employed on a 3 month basis. Being my first job and learning the ropes, I was subjected to being called a 'Blonde" on a few occasions in front of staff, which was extremely humiliating. I relied on her for guidance but instead she broke my confidence. She changed the story about my contract period, being 2 months instead of 3. She said that she was going to let me know whether she'd keep me on, depending on the results / financial yearend - end April 2013.
In my last weekend of March 2013, a new casual was in for training. I overheard other employees mention to the trainee that he would eventually enjoy the job and I new that I was on the chopping block because Lynne said that she would let me know whether she could afford to keep me on. So how was it possible to employ another casual? I felt humiliated and shocked at the unprofessional management of this situation. Everyone knew, except me.
She didn't communicate any of this to me. I feel since I am young and inexperienced that I was taken advantage of and my first working experience was A BAD ONE.
