Woolworths
OLD AGED CUSTOMERS BEING INTIMIDATED

My mom is currently a 68 year old, state pensioner. When she went on Disability Pension in 2004 and was eventually unable to pay the last of her outstanding amount, and after liaising with the accounting manager, it was agreed that the money would be written off. Never ever got a letter, a call or any correspondence from them again. My attorney needs the proof now.

In 2011 (7 years later and my legal advisor told debt has prescribed years ago) my mom suddenly got a final letter of demand for R4600.00 (11 times of what she owed). I sent emails explaining what happened and what the current situation with her is and also never heard a thing again until three weeks ago. of. The debt collectors, MBD Inc. are calling her 3 times a day, and sending up to 6 sms's a week, threatening her, not withstanding the fact that she is old and really ill.

I cannot believe that a company as big as Woolworths would go against their word, including the time frame the credit act allows, dig into their archives of 9 years ago, only to harass an elderly lady. PLEASE WATCH THE PRESS FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS AS WELL AS A FACE BOOK PAGE.
