Woolworths not closing my account after I paid

I had an account with Woolworths and I closed this account with them in 2011. But this year (2013) I received a statement sms on the same account showing the account balances and due amounts. I then called the call center to enquire about as I have closed the account in 2011, when I closed the account I went to the store and paid all the money which was due and the I together with the store assistants call Woolworths to tell them to close the account and they confirmed on the phone that it was closed. The agent told me that the account was not actually closed so he said he would close it. Then weeks after that I get another statement letter, the letter has account balances and due amount, but the strange thing is that the letter does not show the account number. This is really frustrating coming from a reputable company like Woolworths as now I am not getting the answers when I call their call centers on this.
