Pick 'n Pay
5 Cashiers on a Sunday Morning = 25 Minute Wait

Today, I arrived at PnP Canal Walk at around 10:30. I left at 11:11. I only spent 15 minutes actually shopping for the 15 or so items I required. The rest of that time was spent waiting in the queue to pay for my goods. I find it completely and utterly unacceptable that of the 15 non-express tills, only 5 of these were open at 11:00 on a Sunday morning - a notoriously busy time on the weekend - in a busy centre. Further, the cashiers that were actually available were incredibly slow and made errors constantly, such as forgetting to ring up a carrier bag for an elderly gentleman in my queue, and some other issue that rendered the queue next to me stationary for around 10 minutes. This wasted even more time.

I observed that the "surplus" cashiers were left standing outside of the cash office waiting to receive their float so that they could commence work. Clearly, someone did not plan effectively in order to get the cashiers out in time. Regardless, I am disgusted by the fact that I was forced to waste 25 minutes waiting in a queue of a supermarket chain that supposedly cares about their customers. Train your staff properly or reconsider your queuing structure please.
