Statements arrive at irregular intervals showing incorrect balances. I would receive a statement one week showing a credit balance, followed the next week by a statement showing an arrears. I would hot-foot off the store to go and settle, only to be shown a different amount there. Then the phone calls started. I would receive a statement showing a credit balance on the Monday, followed by a phone call from the Credit Department on the Thursday insisting that I settle my arrears immediately or face the dreaded Black List. The response to my queries would always be a convoluted attempt at explaining the vagaries of how and when statements are issued.
I started scanning statements as they arrived and emailing it to the Credit Department to ask for confirmation: is this the amount due. Sometimes I would receive a reply. I would then go the store and pay whatever the clerk asked me to pay. When this process failed, I would receive The Phone Call. Asking for clarification, I would receive The Lecture on how to do the calculations myself and how to determine when I should pay.
I have many accounts and different companies and I have never been treated this unprofessionally before.
