Pick 'n Pay
"FRESH" FRUIT & VEG

This is not the first time I have experienced this problem and therefore feel it is only right to complain. On Saturday 12 January I picked up a punnet of Rosa tomatoes at the Gardens Lorraine Pick n Pay - the expiry date said 14 January 2013. When I got home and started using the tomatoes as I was making a salad I had to throw almost half of the tomatoes away as they were already off. I have previously also bought fruit in the punnets and on arrival at home seen that the bottom ones had already gone all mushy and were clearly in the process of going off.
I tried to phone the number for the Eastern Cape Head Office that I found on the Pick N Pay website however the voice tells you that the number has now changed but the number is not available therefore there is no way to complain directly which is also quite pathetic.
I feel that as a paying customer I expect fresh produce and there should be an employee taking the bad fruit and veg off of the shelves, you cannot honestly sell this to customers. Come on Pick N Pay, the residents of Lorraine and surrounding areas make use of your store on a daily basis so the least you can do is ensure that the product being sold is fresh.
