We're all very aware of the significant increase in cost of living, but when one ends up having to dispose of just-bought food because it's expired - then it becomes a bit much!
It's not the first time I had to dispose of fresh produce purchased from Checkers in Cape Gate, but I assure you this will be the last time; I will not buy from Checkers again.
After grocery shopping yesterday, I got home and started preparing supper. When I opened a pack of what's supposed to be "fresh" roast veggies, they were slimy and squishy, definitely way past expiry and not edible - ended up in the bin! According to the expiry date on the pack it was still "fresh" and within date?
Today was the last straw! I opened a new pack of tomatoes that were purchased yesterday; out of 4 tomatoes I had to dispose two of them because they were extremely soft and squishy (the tomatoes were hardly red). I think Checkers (supposedly the more "cost effective" grocer) are rip offs - what a waste!
INACCURATE expiry dates are knowingly placed on the food products and sold off at the normal prices so that the customer runs a loss and not the store!
