I loaded a trolley of food & when I wanted to pay, two of my credit cards were declined. I have subsequently checked with the bank and was told that there were not communications issues on their side. The problem that I had was that the cashier seemed to think that this was my problem rather than hers and both she and the supervisor refused to call the bank to see if there was a problem or to perform a manual transaction. Fortunately I had my father with me & between us we managed to scrape up the cash.
I seldom carry as much cash as was required to pay for the groceries in the trolley. To have no process for sorting out problems of this nature is a very poor show indeed.
