Kalahari.com
Violation of the Consumer Protection Act

Last night & this morning I purchases a number of Philips appliances that were advertised on [URL Removed] at R9.95 per product. Payment was deducted from my credit card & therefore I expected to receive the goods I'd purchased. Subesequently, I received an e-mail from [URL Removed] stating that the prices had been erronous & that the products would not be supplied at the advertised price. This is a clear violation of the South African Consumer Protection Act which states: "Suppliers are not permitted to mislead consumers in respect of pricing, the nature, properties, advantages or uses of goods or services advertised, if such goods or services are not actually available for purchase or procurement in accordance with these standards" amongst other things. Regardless of the cause of the pricing error, these prices were advertised for almost 12 hours on the website & [URL Removed] should be held liable for delivery of the goods considering that the purchase was made & payment had been received for the goods. I find their suggestion of a refund & a R50 voucher totally inadequate in lieu of the products I expected to recieve!
