On Sunday I saw 2 couches that I liked at Byls Bridge Centurion. There was a red tag on the couch stating that it was 'Available Immediately' and attached to it was a price tag of R6, 900. Any normal person would assume that it was the normal price of the couch as it was attached to the couch. I confirmed with the store manager and she said yes, both couches are available and are R6, 900. To my surprise, when it came to paying for the 2 couches, suddenly the price for each was R12, 000!!! The manager said something about the R6, 900 price being the cost for CTM (Fabric something) which made absolutely no sense as that WAS the price I saw and she saw it too. I just didnt have the energy to start stating the CPA to her yesterday which clearly states that, amongst others:
oSuppliers are required to display the prices of goods and services, in full view of consumers;
.oConsumers have the right to demand paying the lower price for goods displaying two varying prices - suppliers are not permitted to charge consumers the higher price for the same goods.
This was quite disappointing as Wetherleys should have checked that the correct prices are attached to the goods being sold. No sale!!!
