3 months delayed debit from Pick 'n Pay

My husband bought groceries worth R3959.00 on 25 October 2012 from Pick 'n Pay Southgate and used a debit card for payment. Pick 'n Pay only processed the payment through the bank three months later on 28 January 2013 causing a huge inconvenience because of back to school. We have a daughter starting at Varsity and a son starting high school. He went to Southgate where he was told that the mobile transaction machine broke on that day and payments did not go through. He explained that we don't mind paying but we need money for school and they referred him to head office. He spoke to them and they said they will look into it. The last time they spoke to him was last Friday, 15 February saying they were going to discuss it in a meeting and will get back to him. He is still waiting for the call. We do not mind paying them but we thought they would at least understand our problem with the school stuff and agree on payment terms. I am so frustrated right now because we did not manage to buy all their books and groceries which include their school lunch. I had expected Pick 'n Pay to make payment arrangement with us since they are the ones who delayed the payment transaction.
