I requested to register my daughter into Irene Pre primary, and was told that we needed to pay a R2000 deposit, before they would even allocate her a space in the school.
After paying this deposit quite urgently, I went to visit the school, and realised the hidden costs would amount to over R30 000 for my daughter in grade R. I have another daughter in school in grade 5, which costs R18 000 per year, so the costs would be unaffordable for me and my partner.
Upon calling the school and requesting the R2000 deposit to be refunded, I have been told this needs to be taken to a meeting of the governing body, due to this being a non refundable deposit.
I feel this is terribly unfair, as my daughter has not even been to the school, eaten one meal at the school or used any of their services, however, they are holding R 2000 of my money. This meeting is only to happen on the 24th and 25th of January.
