Went to Dis-Chem and tried to pay for my purchases with a SASSA Debit Card. The moment I pulled it out of my purse you would have thought I was pulling a gun from my bag! The lady at the teller behind the one serving me immediately jumped up and said that Dis-Chem cannot accept the card. This is ludicrous. It is a card issued by the Government to its pensioners and done through Nedbank. The machines at Dis-Chem are nedbank machines but according to the staff and manager, Dis-Chem cannot process these cards. So, in other words, pensioners cannot buy at Dis-Chem unless they have CASH, which is very dangerous for pensioners (or anyone) to carry around. So, in future, if I need to make purchases with a SASSA card, I will have to go elsewhere.
