In an attempt to eat healthily I recently switched over to 'Albany Low G.I. Wholewheat Brown Bread'. And I enjoy the taste. I was eating a sandwich recently, when I felt a crunch in my mouth and some pain. I immediately fished around for the particular morsel, and managed to extricate it from my mouth. It contained what I believe is called a 'devil's thorn', an almost triangular-shaped thorn with three quite long, hard & sharp spines. (I still have it at home.) I was horrified at the thought that I might have been unlucky and swallowed it. However, of far greater concern to me is that I look after my 86 year old mother who is not that well anymore after a series of massive pulmonary embolisms two years ago, and is on warfarin. I cannot bear to think what might have happened if she had swallowed such a nasty foreign body and it had pierced her alimentary canal and/or lodged therein. I am quite reluctant to eat this make of bread again, as it does not seem to be sufficiently carefully prepared.
