On the 22nd of December 2021 I went to NIZAMS super market at Protea Gardens Mall to buy some few items, but only to be humiliated by a Mozambican cashier at the till point. This happened when I took out a fifty rand note to make a payment, the lady cashier refused to take the fifty rand note claiming that the note is dirty and not bright, then an argument ensued when I confronted her that the note is in a good condition I had just withdrawn from ATM and is no different to other notes, a concerned lady behind me in that queue took out a fifty rand note to attest to the truth of the cashier’s theory, and truly both notes looked similar accept the slight difference in brightness due to common transfer of money from hand to hand. Subsequently the cashier called for her manager who was watching from a proximity, the manager approached the till point and never said a word to me, instead she instructed the cashier not to take the fifty rand note from me. I was degraded and undermined at that supermarket and will never set foot in that building again. I further went down the corridor to Boxer Supermarket and I bought some items with the same fifty rand note without any hustles.
