Polar watch broken after 4 (four) times of use

I've bought a Polar FT80 for my husband's birthday in August 2012 and used it only 4 (four) times after which the battery is not working anymore and their is a transmission problem. The saleslady confirmed that it was a NEW battery when I bought it and if anything goes wrong they will fix the watch instore. No waiting periods ect. I first asked them to exchange the watch which they refuse to do. They need to send it away and I must wait four weeks. The didn't have stock of the batteries and after one day they phoned me to ask that I bring in the watch for a cattery exchange. My husband said that he doesn't want a repaired watch and after another 6 months it broken and out of guarantee. So if they don't want to exchange the watch we want a refund or voucher to but sport clothes. They refused to do so after a call to Polar they said they must first send the watch away and I refused. I want a refund. When they sold the watch to me the could quickly take my money but now that we want our money back they don't want to pay.
