Fruit and Veg spends thousands of rands on advertising on TV and full colour adverts and pamphlets. Disaster strikes once you are lured into the store. I have had no joy for the last few months on my visit to Fruit and Veg for the following reasons:
During my last visit I discovered the following on returning home after a my purchases:
1) A box of mangoes advertised for R19.99 - when I unpacked them from the box, all of them were rotten and the rotten halves were not facing up, thus the buyer was totally unaware they were rotten.
2) The two sweet melons (spanspek) were fermenting within a day.
3) The broccoli was mouldy within two days
4) The cucumber had a spongy texture and not edible.
5) The container of grapes was mouldy.
I find that the store has become very expensive and managed to buy failrly priced similar products from Woolworths that lasted in the frigde and did not land in the rubbish bin. I will not darken the doorsteps of Fruit and Veg (or should I say meat and mould) ever again.
