Wrong info on account given!

Resulting in me and the family spending 2 hours in Edgars Canal walk, just to be told that my account has been blocked, BUT my wife went to enquire if and how much I can buy for as I had some issues with my account before when I was retrenched few years ago, and she was given a receipt/mini statement and it said I can buy for such and such and amount. and Phumze confirmed it as thats the amount I can buy for. When we got to the till, Andiswa, with an attitude said 'your account is blocked and its cash or card'. I was like 'WHAT the, ' and I said 'do you think I would have spent 2 hours here, and would have taken this stuff if I had known my account was blocked? ' Ok we bought some stuff cash, but that was planned, and some on account which was not planned when we got there. But HAD they said 'sorry sir, but your account is blocked due to this and that', then I would have said no problem and just taken the cash stuff we came for. Wow, unprofessional and I would say Andiswa was rude, almost like 'ok, get on with it.' Customer services was closed they said, but it could have been prevented in the first place.
