Interest on "12 month" purchases-should be 6 month

I have had an Edgars account for many years which has ALWAYS been 6 month (ie. interest free).

I have now been charged 2 transactions this year at 12 months with a 21% interest rate when I have always specified at the till that my purchases are 6 months. The transactions are as follows:

22 June 13 - Melrose Arch for R2, 289.80
27 October 13 - Bryanston for R880.80

I have tried to resolve this telephonically and they say they will not assist and I have to go to each store separately to resolve this.

It is unreasonable to expect this. Edgars has a centralised system and they should be able to modify these transactions to a 6 month plan AND reverse all interest charged thus far without requiring me to drive all over Johannesburg to correct their errors.

While writing this, I was holding to speak to the supervisor of the accounts department (I initially spoke to Margaret who was of very little assistance) and my call has just been cut off. UNACCEPTABLE.
