Yesterday afternoon at about 1pm me and my family did our shopping at Shoprite, Airport Mall. I had my son with me in his pram and put 2 pieces of cheese on the pram alongside with the yoghurts. At the till I took the goods out and paid for it. At the exit the alarm sounded and I noticed the the cheese fell off in the pram, leading to us 'mistakenly' not paying for it. I went back to the cashier and she understood it was a honest mistake and wanted to let me pay. The security came and asked us to wait for the Store Manager in order for us to explain the situation. They took us to a locked room and we waited for more than half an hour, NO Store Manager appeared. We were treated like criminals kept behind a locked gate and were threatened with the police. We were given the option to either pay double for the cheese which was two R8 pieces (R35) or they would call the police. I felt so embarresed and like a criminal because they wanted us to leave through the back gate of the store instead of the way we entered the store. The service was pathetic and I would like this to be addressed and feedback given! Where is the STORE MANAGER in cases like this???
