On Sale Stock out of system - Poor Service

I had received a pair of beautiful purple boots for my 2yr old daughter's birthday 2 weeks ago. However, although the shoe was her correct size, her leg could not go in. i took it to a WW store on 29 September (WW Chatsworth) and the assistant declined returning it as "apparently" the last date of returns for sale items (this shoe was a sale item) was the 1st week in September and it is now out of the system. i did try to explain to the assistant that i had received this shoe as a gift and i was unaware of these clauses and all i want to do is get either the same shoe in a bigger size or even something else for whatever the sale price was and i was prepared to pay any difference, as i dont have and dont know anybody else who has kids that wear this size shoe.

further to this, i had emailed WW online Customer queries on Monday 30 September 2013 and received an immediate response that WW has received my mail and will contact me within 48 hours, and today is Friday 04 October 2013 and i have still not heard from them. Such poor customer service
