April this year, I decided to go to the Clearance Centre and found that a couch was marked down from 4999 to R2199.The couch is badly damanged, the fabric has burnt holes and is torn on some areas.
I went again in july and the same couch was marked down for R1999. I enquired from the black salesman, I forgot his name but I can point him out and he said to me that the marked down couches cannot be negotioated further down even if payment is cash.
In Aug I went with a friend, showed her the couch and she wanted it for R1500.Salesman Clive then said he can speak to the manager and see what he can do. He called her back and told her she can get the couch for R1800.I informed the black salesman and he informed me that Clive got a written warning for giving out discounts on marked down goods. The service, truly dissapointed maybe because Im black that is why I was not given a discount on a torn couch. I was once a customer, bought a plasma stand on credit but from this experience I can safely say its who you know for you to get a discount. What is the purpose of the clearance centre, to have the same couch not bought 5 months down the line? I might as well wait for it for 6yrs.
