I have been supporting JJ Cale since the store in Clearwater Mall opened, about 8 years.
About 3 months ago I purchased a Euro-jet type lighter for R300.00, a few weeks after purchase it stopped working and was collected by the supplier and replaced with a new one, about 3 weeks later it stopped working again, this time it was repaired, a 10 day wait to get it back (and another 2 trips out of my way. On Thursday it stopped working yet again and I took it in on Friday 16 August.By this time it had become clear to me that this is an inferior product and I wanted a refund but refunds are not allowed in the store-a contravention of the CPA.
I told the staff I did not want this item replaced as I was tired of running up and down every few weeeks then being without a lighter for about 10 days every time.
After a few calls from the staff and a 45 minute wait I was told I need to go and get the box it came in, which was not returned to me after the first time I bought it in and only when I lost my temper did things begin to happen. All of a sudden I was able to get goods to the same value from the store but NO refund.
Once the customers money is in your till you no longer care!
