Impossible to get a greeting from a cashie

I have shopped at Queenswood Spar since it opened. It was a welcome change after using Shoprite, with its long ques and bad attitudes. However, Spar has now become the forerunner for this. The cashiers hardly ever greet, they hardly ever ask if you want a plastic bag. They stare at you when they have finished ringing up the goods, (the only time they make eye contact) and they hardly ever say goodbye. What they do do, however, is have a fantastic and lively conversation with the person packing the bags.
