On my way home after a hard day's work on Monday, I stopped at Woolworths to get some mince so I could make a quick curry. I was very pleased to see that the mince was on special. A very clear round sticker reading "SAVE R10 NOW R28.99". I gleefully grabbed two packs and a few other items. When I got home I noticed on my till slip that I had been charged R38.99 for each pack. When I went back yesterday to buy some more items, I showed them my slip and also a photograph I took of the packs with the sticker together with my till slip. When the cashier called the "manager" she shouted from where she was "NO THE MINCE IS NOT ON SPECIAL!!! " Eventually four of the cashiers and the manager were examining my till slip and the picture and shaking their heads and making me feel hugely embarassed. I asked for my slip back saying i will contact head office. They then said "Ok we'll give you your money". I took my slip back as R20 is not going to alleviate the humiliation I felt and certainly would not compensate for the way I was treated! What has happened to Woolworths returns policy? I was fully within my rights to reclaim the diiference between what I was charged and the advertised price!
