Unwillingness To Reduce Credit Limit on Account

As I am in the process of applying for a further loan on my bond and in an effort to reduce my unnecessarily high credit exposure, I approached the above Identity store, requesting to have my accounts credit limit reduced from R5 500, to R2 000.

The assistant advised me that it cannot be done. When I explained to her that I had just presented the exact request to 4 other retail stores, namely, Truworths, Edgars, Foschini and Milady's, all of which obliged me by actioning my request immediately, the assistant re-iterated that this type of request was not possible and could not be done!

Out of mere frustration, I restrained myself further and decided not to point out the fact that at no stage, did I ever request for my limit to be increased automatically, and yet when I request for it to be reduced, I am advised: "NO"!

In these "credit-conscience" times where our economic climate is so volatile, it is frightening to encounter such reckless, negligent and irresponsible attitudes from established credit providers. It comes as no surprise when the public is sucked into this credit trap and is faced with unwarranted financial stress, of which, is so easily avoidable!
