Homemark
Homemark competition

I received an sms to say I'd won a 19 piece knife set from Homemark. I did not enter any competition.

I called the number anyway as I was curious to see if the sms actually was from Homemark. It was! I was told that the knife set was worth R 600 and of the highest quality. All I had to do was pay R130 for delivery. I was told I could not collect the prize to avoid paying the R 130 delivery fee. I was also expected to provide my personal details and credit card details! I told the lady I did not have my credit card on me and hung up. Subsequently, I have read numerous complaints on Hello Peter about this and other competition from Homemark.

Basically Homemark could debit any amount from my credit card as there is no proof of any agreement or prize winning. And I have no guarantee that I will actually receive my prize. Why should I be expected to pay for a prize I won in a competition I did not even enter?

I think it is disgraceful that Homemark would associate it's brand with something like this. This should be investigated further - maybe Carte Blanche can get to the bottom of it. I've seen complaints from as far back as 2007 on this matter!
