Unfair business practice and CPA non compliant

I went to buy a lounge suite at the UFO furniture in Malboro on the 18th of June 2013, I used my card to pay for the transaction. After the payment went through they asked to make a copy of my drivers license. I refused as they already had my credit card details and that I'm more than happy for them to check my drivers license to verify that the right person is buying the goods.

The salesman, Freedom said that their bank requires the ID copy to process the payment. I disputed this as I've made bigger purchases on my card and no retailer has ever demanded to make a copy. I then asked to speak to the manager David Tankau, he said they need a copy of my drivers license that for their auditors and that was the store policy for any purchases of over R5000.00 rands.

I asked David how do they safeguard my information as they now have my credit card details, a copy of my drivers license and a specimen of my signature. He told me that they've never had issues with identity before. I told him that I was not comfortable with the arrangement and want to cancel the purchase, at this point he said that there is a handling charge of R500. I grudgingly took the lounge suite.
