Smart Shopper Draw to win a Hyundai i10

I received a sms stating, "smart shopper, you are in the draw to win a Hyundai i 10 at Chatsworth Pick n Pay. To win, be there at 12:00 on 25 May..." I attended this and found that the sms had been sent out to thousands of shoppers. The possible winner was pre-selected but had to be in attendance to win the car. The mc read out the winner from envelop 1 but this person was not present, this went on for 30 envelopes with no winners in attendance. We were then notified that the draw would be continued next week Saturday when another 30 possible winners would be pre-selected and read out to the crowd.
I found that it was a waste of time, money and energy to attend such an event if the 30 possible winners had been pre-selected. These 30 people should only have been smsed and asked to attend with the chance of winning and not sent to thousands of shoppers who had no chance at all of their name being selected.
Secondly the manner in which the announcements where conducted did not leave a set amount of time for the possible winner, if present in the immense crowd that had gathered in the tiny, congested parking-lot, to make his/her way to the stage. A countdown of 5mins should've been conducted.
