Refusal to return goods

I purchased a Guess watch for myself, but was given another watch as a gift days later, and so wanted to return the Guess watch to NWJ for a refund, as I don't need two watches. Because I had asked for a refund a mere 3 days after their 10day return date, I was refused and told to just keep the watch. It is a lovely piece, has not been worn, and is completely resellable at it's original price by NWJ. I understand their 10 day policy, but such rigid refusal is no good for consumer loyalty, and such inflexible terms and conditions really should be more open to compromise. Consumers have the right to return an unwanted purchase, if in original packaging, unused, and with a receipt.
