I felt really cheated on the evening of the 8 May 2013 when I popped in to my local Spar for some daily items.
After paying for the basket of goods, I discovered that I was overcharged for not one or two items but FOUR of the eight items in my basket. The overcharged price was between 1 and 2 rands per item.
This is not the first time that this has happened. Indeed it is a recurring event that has result in a breach of trust and integrity. The disappointing fact is that management is well aware of this situation. I spoke to Dries the next morning and he apologized profusely. However this does not solve the issue of customers being ripped off. (I hate to say this - but why would one even try? If customers don't mind being overcharged, this unscrupulous practice has the potential to rake in tens of thousands of rands in additional, straight bottom-line profit.)
Unfortunately, it is the only supermarket nearby otherwise I would move my business elsewhere - like at the Pick 'n Pay where I know the prices are most probably correct, and I had the scan right policy to fall back on if it is not.
