My wife bought a pair of New Balance sport shoes from Somerset Sport in Cape Gate 2 months ago. The shoes are showing signs of "wear and tear" in a area where there is no way possible to be any wear and tear. We took it back to Somerset Sport and they had a rep of New Balance there to check it out. According to him it is the way that my wife runs with the shoes. Funny though, her Addidas sports shoes that she's been using for 4 years is still in perfect condition except for the soles that shows wear and tear.
So between Somerset Sport and New Balance they are not willing to exchange these shoes. We don't want our money back, we just want new shoes. If you pay R1000 for a pair of shoes then you don't expect it to look like this in 2 months time. My wife hasnt been using the shoes for at least 2 weeks now because she doesn't want it to damage any further.
I'm sure according to the new Consumer Protection Act they may not refuse to give a refund or exchange the shoes.
