Pay ADT for nothing

We vacated our premises due to renovations.
I emailed ATD to suspend my account. A week later I had no response from them. i phoned them and requested that my account be suspended. they confirmed that my account have been suspended and that payment will not go off my account again. on 30 June, payment did go off my account, even though I was told it would not. I then phoned ADT, told them about the situation and requested to cancel my contract. to get my account cancelled, they told me that I will have to pay one month notice! I have thus paid for June and August for NOTHING!
