My husband & I stayed at the Carnival City Hotel on 21/3/13. I don't know who put together this bizzare breakfast menu. Although Carnival City Hotel offers a continental buffet breakfast (one of the breakfast items being sushi?!), the hot breakfast must be ordered off a menu, which is okay, if you can order a proper English breakfast, which they didn't offer. If you want bacon, eggs, tomato, sausage, mushrooms, etc. you have to order off the "build it yourself" part of the menu which only allows you 3 items in addition to eggs, and states that additional items will be charged extra for. The standard "breakfasts" included some sort of curry meal, a stirfry, roti, savoury mieliepap, etc. One meal consisted of bacon, minute steak, chicken breast and some other bizarre non-breakfast combinations. We decided on the poached haddock which was the meal that seemed most like a "breakfast" to us - but they were out of haddock!
The service wasn't much better: At the continental buffet there were no plates and the croissants were stale. Coffee took 15 minutes and the hot breakfast took 30 minutes and it's clear that it wasn't freshly prepared and had been sitting on a hotplate for ages.
