Multichoice
& unethical conduct

My account was R42.50 in credit (after my payment on 1 Feb 2012) as I was only paying for the decoder care maintenance contract (R8.55 pm) but paying R10 every month thus accruing credit after arranging in April/May last year (2012) to have the M -Net switched off due to my having been hospitalised after a blood clot in my lung and having thousands of rands of medical bills to pay. I have been paying R10 pm for the decoder care maintenance contract as arranged April/May 2012.
I have just received an account for the reconnection of my M - NET - and subscription for R577.50?? (Feb - April) which I did not request - the decoder is not even connected - it is in a box in the garage?
This is a matter of and contravenes the Consumer Protection Act as well as the Guideline set by the FSB and public broadcaster, as this modus operandi is most unethical and to say the least. I logged the complaint 11 Feb 2013 and to date 20 Feb 2013 07h00 - no response as requested in writing or telephone - I have voice logs and copies of emails sent. I will be taking legal action and reporting this incident to the Financial Services board, CPA and police as they do not think this is serious!
