We visited the Constantia branch of Acrobranch on a busy Saturday morning. It's a great place to take your kids, it's fairly well run, with lots of friendly staff keeping an eye on safety and helping children. But the toilets are totally inadequate. There are two toilet cubicles in a little block which is set away from other buildings out of sight behind large bushes. Neither cubicle has a lock or catch on the door. When my wife went there she had to jam her foot against the door. She felt very unsafe. In addition the place stank and there was water all over the floor.
For an enterprise that is very busy and successful, this is shoddy. When I went in, there was a small boy in front of the women's cubicle and the door was ajar. His mother was inside. We all know SA has unbelievable stats. Will Acrobranch wait for a crime to be committed before acting?
Acrobranch say they share the property and are in discussions to build their own amenities. That's fine but when I asked why they cannot deal with the current situation they failed to respond. Locks could be installed on those doors easily and they could employ someone to keep the building clean and stay at the door for safety
