We rented a house in Knysna and moved out last year end of April. The owners never did any inspection reports, didn't want to use any agents to "manage" the property and on moving out they just deducted R5000 off our deposit for replacing the glass top stove. The glass plate was "scratched" even though it was scratched from moving in (the front plate which is used mostly) and surely it is wear and tear.
I was told to report it to the rental tribunal, which I did. I completed all the form and mailed it to them. I received a mail back telling me this is my reference number - Ref: 164869 and that they will investigate and come back to us.
To date I have had NO feedback - each time I phone to follow up I am told that someone is dealing with it and will come back to us... in the meantime we are out of pocket R5000 without ANY reason what so ever! I cannot believe that this is the service we are getting when we did everything according to what is required of us!!! What an absolute joke - landlords are allowed to do whatever they want and NO ONE CARES! This is supposed to be a medium where we can get justice - well obviously NOT!
