I have been renting my property through Rawsons Newlands for a while now, but finally they've tripped the balance:
- they are unable to tell me what a payment of R1, 400 to my account is for
- they gave a suggestion for a rental that was totally contrary to market conditions (ending a lease just before exams start in a university area) and still haven't explained why this was a good idea despite repeated requests
- they are unable to point out legal references to overly onerous (to the lessor) clauses in the lease
- they are not able to provide a lease agreement that is not subject to the consumer protection act even when the lessee is a corporate entity
- the lease agreement sent to me contained various errors that required it to be resubmitted.
- I have numerous examples of where expenses are incurred on my behalf without my permission
- They are unable to ensure payment of levies on a regular basis. They're done kinda adhoc. Its a good thing my body corporate doesn't charge me interest for overdue accounts.
- Follow ups on queries are ignored or take 6 weeks or more to be attended to
Had enough of them. I'd love them if I was a tenant, but as a landlord...
