For the past two months, my roof has been leaking and caused damage on the ceiling as well. SO everytime it rains, the water fills the house and I need to mop it. Ihave reported the problem two months ago and to this day the roof is still not fixed. When it rains we cant switch on the lights as it creates a spark. This is becoming dangerous. Must someone lose a life before this could be attended? I have sent countless emails, of which most are ignored. I have made probably a 100 phone calls to the agency and the owner of the property but they are both playing me. The owner tells me he authorised the repairs and the agency tells me a different story (that he hasnt given them approval). I was so annoyed that I was being ignored like a kid and decided to hold my rent till they respond to my emails, they sent threatening letters. As much as there is an agreement that I am liable for the rent, the agency and owner are also obliged to do repairs on the property when necessary. Nobody ever called willing to assist. I have always paid on time and the correct amount but feel cheated. I really dont know what to do... what are my rights as a tenant? I am really fed up.
